Personal Experience

A member of The Quiat Companies’ team since 2004 and Chief Financial Officer since 2008, Ms. Penny is instrumental in financial planning, estate management, shareholder communication, resource allocation, and deal strategy & analysis.

She has over 35 years of financial management experience including SEC auditing, SEC reporting for oil and gas companies, private equity fund-raising for start-up companies and deal financing and structuring. Ms. Penny received her CPA license in 1991 and is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder (B.S. Finance and Mineral Land Management) and has taken graduate-level Accounting classes in the CU graduate program.

Her professional previous experience includes positions at Hallwood Energy Company, Moss Adams CPA firm, Nurture Inc and Able Planet, Inc.

Ms. Penny is a member of MDEC – Metro Denver Executive Club; FEI – Financial Executive International; and the Denver Rotary Club 31.

On the philanthropic side, Ms. Penny has served as a Denver Kids (DK) Board of Director (2015 – present) and mentor. On the DK Board, she was Chair during the 2019 merger with Denver Urban Scholars. She has served as Treasurer for several years and as a member of the Finance, Development and Governance Committees.

In 2023, Ms. Penny joined the Denver Rotary Club Foundation (DRCF) Board as a Trustee. DRCF grants approximately $150,000 annually to organizations serving youth and education in the Denver community.

Ms. Penny was a member of Toastmasters International from 2001 to 2007 and Regional District Treasurer in 2005 – 2006.  From 2015-2018, Ms. Penny served on the Board of Directors of the Denver Rotary Club; served as Treasurer and Chaired the World Community Service Committee, which grants approximately $40,000 annually to international service projects.

She is an active volunteer – sponsoring international service projects in Kenya and Botswana, mentoring youth, and teaching financial literacy.

For recreation she enjoys the great Colorado outdoors hiking, biking, camping and paddle boarding and playing volleyball.
